Beauty is the ultimate source of status and power both in men and women, that can be used to bend manipulate and subjugate the wills of others, leading to personal success in all aspects of life. The less beauty you possess the less control you have over your own life and influencing the lives of others. As such, ugly men have no power or say in the way society is run . Ugly men are grossly underrepresented in politics, in media even in terms of CEO's and managerial positions, those positions guarantee power and status. Even in conventional interactions, nobody takes an ugly guy seriously, whether he possesses great ideas or desires something from someone, he is always denied, ridiculed or ignored.
