Well, the guy is old, he lived a life of insignificance. ER never wanted that, he wouldn't allow himself that, so they are very different in that aspect.
The old guy also says that people "were scared of him". Nobody was ever scared of ER. So they're very different in that aspect, too.
I can only see differences from this video, not similarities.
I think he is similar to ER because he said that he hated and resented others. ER hated and resented women for not giving him attention and he also hated and resented other men that got female attention. The old man said that people were afraid of him but he then goes onto say that he used to threaten people, I don't know how severe the threats were but of course people are going to be afraid if you threaten them. I don't think ER ever actually threatened anyone in person, so they wouldn't have seen him as a threat.
