I don't support what he did or sympathize with him in any way, he definitely committed a lot of brutal and disgusting acts.

That said, this is a nerdy Quran teacher who built an empire out of nothing, defeated national armies and seized city after city, and had the world, every media outlet and every major military power, paying attention to him and his movement. It took the combined forces of the United States and Russia to take him and his caliphate out. Really he is the only guy to manage to do something like that since Hitler. So while he may be dead, he's definitely going to remain historically significant.
 
For all we know he's probably chilling in some private resort with Tim Osman.
