Sometime prior to April 10th, 2019, an unknown person drew a comparison between DaBaby's head shape and a Chrysler PT Cruiser. On April 10th and 19th, Twitter[2][3] users @FiddleStackss and @los_draco made the earliest tweets mentioning such comparisons. On May 29th, 2019, Twitter[4]user @kitchbecool posted a viral tweet containing an image of DaBaby's head and a Chrysler PT Cruiser that received over 7,600 retweets and 26,200 likes in two years (shown below).
The meme received viral spread online in the following days, with users posting jokes about the perceived similarity between DaBaby's head shape and PT Cruiser on social media.[5][6]
While the memes about DaBaby's head shape maintained a moderate presence online in the following year, the meme did not achieve further development until August 24th, 2020. On that day, Twitter[7] and Instagram[8] account @raplyricsaspics (@raplyricsasimages), admined by Twitter user @FebreezyXD,[18] posted a two-panel Genius Lyrics Messages meme that contained a line from DaBaby's 2019 single "Suge"[9] and a photoshop in which DaBaby's head was given car wheels (meme and photoshop shown below, left, right). The post received over 50 retweets and 420 likes on Twitter and nearly 400 likes on Instagram in eight months.

In the following weeks, the meme received viral spread online. On September 1st, Facebook[10]group Rappers In Peculiar Places reposted the image, with the post gaining over 5,500 reactions and 3,400 shares in seven months. On September 5th, 2020, iFunny[11] user IronManLOHH reposted the meme, gaining over 580 smiles in the same period.Prior to the first surge in popularity of Ironic DaBaby Memes in November 2020, several such memes went viral online. For example, on September 27th, 2020, an unknown user posted a meme that was widely circulated on during that period (shown below).
The spread of the DaBaby Convertible meme mirrors the spread of ironic DaBaby
memes online. In late November 2020, subreddit /r/DaBaby [12] started gaining increased attention as its ironic shitpost culture became more well-known across the web. In late November and early December 2020, /r/DaBaby became a major hub for ironic shitposting about DaBaby, with multiple memes going viral, including memes that utilized the DaBaby Convertible photoshop (examples shown below).
Following the shutdown of /r/DaBaby subreddit on December 3rd, 2020, Facebook[13][14] group Rappers In Peculiar places maintained popularity of the exploitable online, using it in multiple viral ironic memes between December and February 2021 (examples shown below). Several of the posts were reposted in the /r/okbuddyretard subreddit during that period.
In March 2021, after ironic DaBaby memes saw a surge in popularity in the /r/okbuddyretard subreddit, the memes, including DaBaby Convertible, spread to Instagram, Twitter and other platforms.
DaBaby Convertible Mods
Following the viral popularity of the meme, DaBaby Convertible became a popular choice for video game mods, akin to the popularity of Thomas the Tank Engine and Shrek video game mods.On August 25th, 2019, Roblox user OGPresto started developing a custom Roblox game DABABY RACETRACK[15] in which players could race DaBaby convertibles, with the game becoming playable in March 2021 (videos shown below, left and right).
