Moralsoys like shame men who complain: "Well, be grateful that you at least live in XXI century, not in Middle Ages, XIX century or before the second world war
".
But was life really much more worse and brutal than now?
Yesterday I have read that Confederate states drafted 18-35 y.o. men during the war. Compare that to Ukraine where they draft anyone under 60 y.o.
Of course life expectancy was low in the XIX century ( like 40 y.o. ).
But life expectancy for men in Ukraine was 65 y.o. in 2021.
So, nothing really changed except the fact that in XIX century an average male would have more life experiences before 18 y.o. than average male in the XXI century.
