Libertarianism is stronger today than it was in the 1970s and 1980s. For most elites, Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged is literally the Bible, the same as Marx's capital is for Communists. Miley's victory in the elections in Argentina. Trump, who has not paid taxes for years and is loitering towards libertarianism in the economy. It is currently the easiest way for rich people to avoid paying taxes in their entire history, since they have a network of offshore companies.

Libertarian isn't dying out. As a Libertarian, I'm very glad that non-Libertarians are stupid, because that's what allowed us to take over the entire executive branch and implement MASSIVE cuts to Medicaid, foreign aid, welfare, and deregulate the economy into oblivion. Meanwhile stupid people like you won't een know it's happening.
As much as I'm a Libertarian on most social issues and on all economic issues, America would be better off if it clamped down on anti-capitalist anti-Randian thought.

Trump is the least libertarian Republican president since Eisenhower. He’s arguably even anti-libertarian. Republicans are cutting spending due to ideological opposition to certain issues. Trump is planning to blow up the deficit, so all those cuts are for naught, and his heavy handed governance is not an example of small government at all.

Milton Friedman was pro-deficit. The issue was government spending. He would be 100% fine with tax cuts, even if the spending cuts are not enough to offset them, thus ballooning the deficit. To many libertarians the issue isn't debt itself but the level of government spending and involvement in the economy. Trump is cutting the non-libertarian programs (Medicaid, healthcare, targeting social security, etc). He also signed a 10-1 deregulation executive order to cut back Federal Agency law, and he's abolishing all the unconstitutional federal agencies that have been overregulating America (Dept of Education, EPA, SEC, etc).
It is if he's doing it to abolish the Administrative State.
