Assyrians, called the people who lived in the Levant, Mesopotamia etc Arabs.North Africans, Levantines, Egyptians were more European than most of Northern Europe, they were part of the Roman and Hellenic worlds for a long time, they've come to identify themselves with Arabs only recently in a historical context
