- went to Ukraine with a dating agency for thousands of dollars, but got scammed.

- online dating on and off for years. Hundreds of messages, never got a date.

Well you didn't provide enough information for us to answer that question. Many things could be causing your failure:

- face
- height
- frame and proportions
- voice
- autistic / aspie personality and / or mannerism
- health indicators (mainly skin condition)

If it's your face, then analyze it throughly and see which plastic surgeries you need.
