A Florida man, Daniel Waterman, who was in a coma after a February car crash, woke up in May and accused his girlfriend, Leigha Mumby, of intentionally causing the crash during an argument.
He later died in October from pneumonia. Waterman’s mother said he used a whiteboard to tell investigators that Mumby drove into a tree after threatening him. Mumby, who was pregnant at the time, survived and has since given birth. She now faces charges including vehicular homicide.
Waterman’s family is seeking custody of the child, claiming he wanted the baby raised in New York.
