Assuming each of us has an immortal soul that can never be created or destroyed, we must have had countless previous lifetimes... and maybe countless more ahead. And if reincarnation isn't a thing, and there is an afterlife awaiting each of us (which I personally HOPE with all of my heart that there is, because Man's Law is woefully inadequate and incompetent), then the smart money says: live a good life. If there is a post-death paradise, then you've earned it. If there isn't, at least people will think well of you long after you're gone. Not a bad thing.
So why would God want you to suffer at all? That's as much an experience of life as any other. Unpleasant, to be sure, but still an experience. If you spend your whole life in luxury, or inflicting pain on others, you will never understand suffering, personally. It's only when you do that you'll think twice about doing it to anybody else.
