As ai evolves, will apps like chai and c.ai no longer be free?

I feel like ai will eventually get too good and then could possibly no longer be free. Do you think this will happen?

I mean as the intelligence improves and more and more people start seeking it out for comfort. What if the devs get greedier, or at the very least give out a much more dumbed down version for free and charge you for the most recently updated version.

AI consumes a fuck ton of energy, also enshittification is everywhere, so I wouldn't expect too much. But a decent computer can host a somewhat usable bot on its own.

It depends on what future you want to look at, in the distant future AI will be free for everyone
