You're just learning tricks and illusions, you're not actually understanding perspective
I always fuck up at drawing boxes and they turn out constantly wonky to the point of having to erase the entire thing and start over
You gotta use mnemonics n shit, even if you're not good at art, its like autistic savants can do calculus but can't create new maths
I feel like my art never gets better

Putting 3D perspective on a 2D paper is essentially just a bunch of tricks and illusions but I still agree with the central point
Drawing a bunch of shapes and boxes will just overcomplicate shit and won't allow you to learn how to actually imagine or plan out the art properly
It’s crazy tbh, that’s why optical illusions work. Because drawings are basically all optical illusions. Using shading and colours to mess with your head
