I run a small movement with about 35 something people on discord and 250 something followers on X.
The content is grievance heavy, so I have a constant stream of followers that attack the targets.
However, some of them are of particular concern, not because just they are ideological fanatics, but because they are unhinged AND fanatical at the same time.
Some examples:
1. Constantly talks about the movement is hopeless and rages endlessly, turning our discord into a toxic dumb of negativity, we got rid of him after many months.
2. A follower who focuses on anime and robots mostly, but when he comes to comment on my posts, he's absolutely fanatical. He calls for ripping out the organs of our enemies.
3. A more fanatical follower: this one constantly rages at the enemies with no restrictions; he directly calls to kill them or attacks. It doesn't help that he lives in our enemies' land and subject to restrictions like internet limit and limited speech, fueling his resent.
Fanaticism and violent views itself aren't the issue, it's when you combine with extreme resent, and hatred even for fellow members.
The more level headed members may support violence, but they don't go on shootings.
The things I'm most afraid of are:
1. They go on a shooting. It means the ecosystem is done for or will be isolated to telegram channels.
2. They turn the chat into a toxic dump of negativity.
It's why I limit my grievance content and add daily talk/motivational shit in between; For some, all it takes is a little push and they will shoot up their malls with AR-15, and I don't want this to happen due to deplatformimg risk.
