Alright, I'll cease the shit-flinging for this post and try to explain why teenagers aren't exactly prime mother material. First off, according to research done by Gibbs et al. (2012), children born to adolescent mothers are much more likely to be preterm and of low birth weight, both of these can cause the child to be intellectually retarded to a mild degree and die neonatally. Additionally, likely as a direct consequence of this, children of adolescent mothers are likely to be intellectually and socially stunted according to research done by Cornelius et al. (2009).
Aside from preterm birth and the consequent socio-intellectual retardation, teenagers usually aren't good mothers either. According to one study by the American Academy of Pediatrics, adolescent mothers are less likely than usual to show affectionate behavior towards their children and showed greater anger against them and relied heavily on punishment.
