I was just playing this indie shooter and to be honest I avoid all the ones with female protagonists because I'm just kind of tired of it.

So yeah I found this one where you play as a guy and........ one of your prominent squadmates is a woman, lol

I mean... it bothers me that it feels intentionally shoehorned into everything. But also... I am old enough to remember a time when I used to play games and it felt like a male space. And people NEED that. "Spaces" with just their own gender.

These days it's like everything has to be women-only or mixed. That can't be healthy...

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Interested to hear other people's thoughts

I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding here - in that game I was talking about, the squadmates are AI characters. It was a single-player campaign.

It's weird really because I remember back in 2009 playing FEAR 2 which is one of my favourite shooters ever. At least one of your squadmates was a woman in that too and it never bothered me.

The difference was that society wasn't particularly gynocentric back then. These days it's just constant and after a while you get a bit tired of it.
