Not at all in my opinion. Phenomenological and qualitative evidence is a form of evidence. If we were moved solely by quantitative evidence, there would be no creative or scientific thought, little progress and everything would be stale. Rationalism is an idealized concept but doesn't exist in practice, science is much more of a creative and social process in the first place, that is the day-to-day reality in research. But the general public misunderstands that. Not everything is (immediately) formalizable, operationalisable or quantifyable. Sometimes it happens later to hypotheses due to scientific advancement like cognitive science or neuroscience, there are tons of examples of that. Imagine if we abandoned hypotheses strictly because of rationalist reasoning!
That's a philisophical stance. Of course things are guided by neurons, you might as well say we are made of clay. There are laws which are not explained by biology like the Word of Jesus, who still taught us about the inside. Maybe signs and wonders did exist, but regardless of that we are tasked to clean the inside, which is a task of martyrdom. Wide is the gate and broad is the way that lead to destruction. We do not live for material gain, we live for individuation, which is a process not easily explained by biology but exists nonregardless
