Even in the past some men were punished by the society for no fault of theirs ( like how we are) .
Since in the past divorce was not an option so many men in the past must have been stuck in a sexless , loveless marriage with an ugly , demonic wife .

Are our sufferings greater than those men ?

They had worse conditions, but at least they were happy :feelsrope:

Of course we are. after World War 2 the world just gradually became worst.

Yeah it hasn’t been this bad for a long time

Not immediately post WW2, the decline mainly started gradually in the late 60s

If they had rightful authority over their wives, backed up by a sane patriarchal society, then yes.

Yeah. Since then, everything has gradually been conquered and discovered.. till nothing remain. No opportunities left, for everyone, go figure for the uglies; the time of freedom and opportunities, where hard working is all you need to achieve success, is long past. The only thing that remain to be valued is beauty, the one you are born with. Working hard (as hell) has become a given, an implied prerequisites, the norm, nothing exceptional really.

That's why modern time are worse. Where our ancestors would compete and fight for glory and riches, now we do the same just for scraps, just for barely surviving at the bottom of society. These are foids time: they are the best suited to gain power from other people, willingly (gifted), which is almost the only way left to obtain power anymore (other way being family inheritance). Plus it's in foids nature to be bossed around, following orders and authority, while for men it can be kinda shameful and unmanly, against own nature and identity.

It's in human nature to never be satisfied, to always want more... and so to suffer, ultimately. But while we (as men) now suffer for having no job no friends no wife no family no kids, even to the point of rope; back then, the same "us", would prolly still "suffer" but only because the wife the kids the job the social life were not working so perfectly... that's it.
So yes, men quality of life has gone to the shitter in the last half century or so, with a trending that is not yet over. And who knows, it might never stop

I assume it doesn't different much, just in the information era you are aware of how badly you're being fucked by the society and the government.

We live in a world with a better average, but a worse median. In other words, a more unequal world. There are billions of people competing on a fully discovered, highly developed, and globalized world.

The world being fully discovered means that exploration is no longer an option for generating value. Almost every domain of ownership is zero-sum: you can only win at someone else's expense. Gone are the days when men could take on the risk of exploration to capture virgin forest or untapped oil fields.

Technology being highly developed means that making new discoveries is no longer an option for most people. So much knowledge has already been catalogued (and patented) that even a person of great ability would need decades of training to produce further research. Newton and Gottlieb invented calculus and Einstein described relativity; the names of men of equal ability, but who came after, will be forgotten.

Globalization means that being a local champion at a craft is worthless; it's winner-take-all and there's only one winner on the whole planet. Vonnegut said it best in Bluebeard. In the sexual marketplace, of course, we recognize this phenomenon as Chad and giga-Chad. The long-term effect of online dating, better described as "globalized dating", was to give the the most attractive male in any radius mating access unrestricted by anything except sheer nightly logistics, while depriving every other male in that radius of all mating opportunities.

Vonnegut quote:
"...simply moderate giftedness has been made worthless by the printing press and radio and television and satellites and all that. A moderately gifted person who would have been a community treasure a thousand years ago has to give up, has to go into some other line of work, since modern communications put him or her into daily competition with nothing but the world’s champions."

Never, since they had real power over their wives, while every foid has power over us today.

Life in the past was probably very hard but more stable. Now all changes very rapidly. Humans aren't suitable for such rapid changes.

In some aspects yes.

Could have not said it better. Not being the best, of the whole world, is also being used to abuse and put people down: everyone is expendable and replaceable, basically

never recovered from oil crisis in the 70s

in my opinion, yes.
