Probably decomposing in their rooms for 10+ years as they've hanged themselves at 40 and weren't close enough to anyone to notice that they're missing.
i used to work at a hospital where they would often bring dead people to do autopsies on them, i read a few of their case files and the scenario you describe happened a lot.
common case file life story looked like this
>married man at middle age gets divorced
>wife gets house and children, he has to move out
>he has to move into a small apartment in the shitty part of town
>starts drinking
>eventually loses job
>keeps drinking more and more
>full LDAR lifestyle now with nothing but constant drinking
>one day neighbors call police because theres a really bad smell coming from his apartment
>they find the apartment full of flies, with his maggot infested corpse rotting in a pool of vomit on the floor
then the body gets taken to our hospital, because the face is rotten away so much that police cant clearly identify the person, so they have to do a full autopsy to determine his identity (and also cause of death)
seeing these cases come in on a regular basis was a brutal blackpill for me. theres a LOT of men out there who just end as complete failures with no way out and no future to look forward to.
and LDAR is not just a meme, it is what really happens to men on a regular basis.
