Well they are technically "mixed" since they have some Asiatic in them not found in most NW Euros, but they're still overwhelmingly White.
I think the reason many thought they were mixed in the way let's say Mestizos are, is due to the fact they have a flatter maxilla, rounder face, etc. which is likely in part due to the climate & geography of the region.
