There are ways that a moderator can vet people and thus only give information to a few people who would lose more from disclosing the details than they would gain. There are also ways to have relatively private meetups that don't jeopardize people's privacy any more than going outside does normally.

Well, I had a few options lined up earlier this year, but places like a relatively private bar with free reservations for a private floor were on the table back then. I have to gauge interest and then preferences before I can start reaching out again to the places I looked into.

That's not true. I will know everyone's username because there is no other way to properly organize this. What we won't know is each other's real names, which is much more valuable. It makes more sense to identify ourselves by pseudonyms.
No it doesn´t. If I show up and say "Hi I am TheGoodGuy" then some random guy can film me and show my face with my online name and show all of my comments. If I just meetup and say my real name I am just another person but no one will know any of my history on this site.
If you give your legal name then if you have any public records or social media whatsoever then your name in the wrong hands could lead to game over. I'd rather risk people knowing my face as blickpall because that is a one day affair and I don't have a social media presence with my face involved (what incel would??) than me being at an incel meetup with my legal.
But people knowing video taping your face with the name Blickpall would imo be much more catastrophic because if that video got shared and even went viral then you´re fucked.
