Youngcels have no idea how things have changed.

For example, a 3 minute song used to take 30 minutes - or more - to get!

Pictures? Jfl! Line by line! Try fapping to that! Lol.

These days a 2 hour blue-ray movie shows up in about the same amount of time as a song took.

It's actually still available in some cities!

I have a Incel-in-denial (balding, skinny, manlet, face) buddy that STILL USES dial up because he's to cheap to spend the extra ten bucks! His phone is always busy!

I miss that dude. He's there. But he ain't.

Anyway. Just a quick rant about dial up!

Anyone remember that shit?

i was born a few years ago so I don't really know tbh

I remember the old dial up noise. Lol

Remember the AOL dial up? The little yellow running man? On my Compaq desktop lol.

Yeah! My buddy still uses that lol.

I used some other cheaper one. Can't remember the name but it took 4-5 floppies to install.

No man tbh too young

I do. Back then the internet was so slow and limited that I preferred to just play games.

I mostly used my computer as a word processor. I had a few games but they sucked.

Yes. I used dial up back in 1974.
The phone really did have a rotary dial.

I didn't have internet in my house consistently until 2013 we are always behind

Wow! You must have been rich! Ded srs ngl! Computers cost as much as new cars back then! Dial me impressed!
It was my sister's computer. Her job gave it to her to do work from the house.

I didn't think you were that old! Just imagine a 10 year old today. Tiny cheap computers that are not fragile!

We had dialup until about 2006, went from 56kbps to blazing fast 1mbps and you didn’t even need to hang up the phone to use it!

I was about 10 years old in 2006.

I don't remember when I got dsl. But my phone sometimes gets 3 mbps!

I had it it in 2010, but ours would kick us off the internet if a call came through. One New Years I got smashed, busted down my brother's door to get to his computer and look at porn on newgrounds. Horny Toad, which is still up, took the whole night to load. Go check that shit out.

Yeah newgrounds! Best games.

Been a while...

yes, until around 2008/2009 when we got rid of our internet all together. before that it was dial-up
i still remember sitting there listening to that strange dial-up sound every morning. the slowness of it didn't bother me at the time, i was pretty young and had no knowledge of fast internet. i thought this was the best it could get

same tbh

I was born in 2000, but I remember dial-up Internet fondly. I started using the Internet when most late 20 to 30-somethings were starting to use the Internet (mid 2002) so I can talk about this type of thing for hours. We had dial-up until 2003, and the sound always scared the living shit out of me. It would give me these synesthesia-like dreams when I went to sleep, and I'd envision the sound of dial-up Internet as some dark, scary shadow figure with jagged edges. We got satellite after that, and then we got rid of our Windows 95 computer, at least the sound didn't scare me anymore. Dial-up was slow, but I was patient as hell back then so I'd probably sugarcoat it if I was talking about my specific experiences with it. I'm watching videos on how to configure your own dial-up connection and I'm really thinking about doing that if I ever went AWOL and decided to quit life.

Holy shit, how rich was your family?

Ah look at the little babies who're born too late. Aren't they cute OP?

Yes I remember Dial Up. I can remember hearing "Welcome" when the dial up was done, this was back when AOL was the main use of internet along internet explorer. Ah the memories of those olden years that the many babies of this forum will never get to experience and nostalgia over whenever it gets bought up like in this topic.

Yes, I remember the weird noises and having to tell my mom not to pick up the phone while I was waiting for some games on newgrounds to load.
The day we got 1mb internet my mind got blown.

I'm interested in any new form of dial up p2p type thing! Such as call someone with it, their computer-phone answers and it's like a private internet! Share files and stuff. Like a pirate/library box via phone instead of WiFi.

Lol. I'm starting to think it wasn't really that long ago! But it sure is wild to consider today's speeds compared to back then.
