Well you can always strive to be a good listener. I like making people feel wanted for some reason. I like asking them if they are okay, if they are alright, etc. I realized that when someone opens up to you that you shouldn't criticize on what they did. They want someone to tell them that they dint fuck up. Validation. I know its against the "i tell it like it is" trope but people really dont like hearing it like it is. Empathy is the one characteristic i value the most. Good luck mate.
I agree with you, and I think that one of the reasons I have been calling a good listener is because I tend to ask people about how they are or their projects, but if I have to be completly honest its also in part because I'm a boring person, so its easier for me to ask others about what they are doing. Its not like I don't care, but I would be lying if I said that it isn't easier for me to let others do the talking.
