I usually do my browsing on an ASUS Essentio CM6730 Desktop (i7 Processor, 8GB RAM). Have spectrum internet as well (97.1 down, 11.2 up). I've never had a faster connection. Lately, the desktop wouldn't boot up, so I've been using my Lenovo IdeaPad S415 (AMD A6 5200 processor, 4GB RAM). My god, the fucker is so slow to start up. I've cleaned the system junk several times, but it still takes like 10 mins to fully boot. Starts slowing down after opening more than 6 windows. Even the soundcard sucks ass. It'll be tolerable quality one minute, then it will drop in quality, and keep switching back and forth. Nearly punched a hole through the screen. :woke: Thankfully, I finally got around to unplugging everything and cleaning my PC fan, and am back on the desktop :feelsokman:

Yes, one time I was play doki doki literature and it was lagging. A VISUAL NOVEL made my laptop lag.

I have an old ass gaming computer that used to be top tier back in 2012 but now can barely play Far Cry 5.
I've recently got myself a laptop that i hook up to my TV for emulationmaxxing tho.

Is this your current laptop? How old is it?

Are you sure it's top tier? What is your connection like? My desktop is quite ordinary ($700-800 in 2010), and it still works fine. Granted, I am on much faster internet now. Also, any emulation recommendations (that are free)?

Damnnn did you buy the cheapest one possible?
Quite the opposite in fact. Its a Mac :soy:

I didn't actually get it myself but my uncle bought it for me as a gift without my consent so I've just been using it ever since

I have a low spec Dell laptop. It's crappy as fuck. But it runs good. I might be able to get a gaming laptop if my mom is able to get it for me. I also wanted to do 3D animation and other shit.

If its a mac, then why is it so slow? Even the low end macs are decent.

By crappy as fuck, do you mean as in physical design (looks and ease of use, like buttons)? Maybe your animation ambitions will sway your mom to buy you the laptop, as animation is a marketable skill.

im using my mom's old one it's pretty old and ive dropped it like a dumbass many times. fkin integrated graphics card

Are you sure it's top tier?
Relatively speaking, yes. It plays games from the 2012 era on max settings with no problems.
What is your connection like?
It's decent, but i rarely play MP games these days so it doesn't matter much.
Also, any emulation recommendations (that are free)?
Marvelous: Another Treasure Island for SNES. It never came out in the west but there's a translation patch. Absolutely top tier game.

I used to have a laptop that overheated while watching movies.

Before replacing my laptop, I bought a portable piece of junk with 2GB ram, 250GB HDD and intel 2Ghz dual-core processor. I got it from my friend at 20€, then I spent like 10€ to buy the thermal paste for the processor, as the old one was fried.

I use that old laptop for shit that could potentially fuck up my main one and experiments. Takes 4 minutes to completely boot and heats up like crazy and noisy even to a worse degree.

Every time I turn it on, it feels like going back 10 years or so.

Quite epic tbh. By "portable", do you mean like one of those small ass Sony laptops?

i have a good 1. i inherited my sisters old apple laptop :soy:

I sometimes use my mum's laptop but it's not that shitty. I normally use my desktop.

Thanks man, I was low on cash at that time. :feelsokman: For some reason I can't link the image, but to give you an idea I can tell you a similar looking model: 15" Laptop Acer Aspire 5335.

Yes bro, mine is trash. I don't use it for much more than posting on here though so it's OK.

I have two laptops.

One is a Asus Travelmate B1, Intel Celeron 2.4ghz and 4gb of ram that I use for just browsing. It’s pretty fast because I installed a 256gb SSD.

The other is a Asus Nitro 5, Intel i5 2.5ghz and 8gb ram. The gpu is a Nvidia 1050. I can play Rising Storm 2 Vietnam on max settings with over 60fps.

I use a MacBook Air lol

Any error messages when you try to boot desktop? Windows bogs down over time the more things you install, you need to run msconfig or disable services or download CCleaner and remove all the startup junk.

If you got a spare USB drive, create a linux mint bootable usb drive from your laptop in Windows. After install you restart computer to boot off that usb and use linux and see if its still slow compared to windows - This is also a way to use your desktop without reinstalling Windows and you can pull files off the hard drive this way to in the Linux environment

Mine is already considerably old and has a lot of problems I failed to fix, like video and sound crackling sometimes, everything freezing when it remains idle for some minutes, etc.

Mines ok. I need it to cope w vidya. I have intel i7 and nvidia gtx1060
