Anyone else despise "goodbye" protocols?

I absolutely abhor leaving the company or presence of another person, and having to say goodbye....

Especially when there's an excruciating protocol such as....

"Thank you for coming, tell your mom hello" or whatever.

Usually I simply just take off with no explanation.
