I just got a new one without making much research but holy mackrel did it awe me with quality despite being below 400€ in price. The progress in the last 7 or so years is incredible.

Doesn't surprise me much since they want to get cellphones to everyone because they want to decrease people's attention spam and gather data on them

This is something I've read before and I can completely believe it. It's truly fascinating how sophisticated phones are for their price. There probably is a sinister motive behind it.

A OnePlus. Call me paranoid but I'm not willing to share the exact model. Sorry.
:feelskek::feelskek: you bought a chinese phone and you're being paranoid about me? :feelskek: please don't tell me you bought a 5g one?

I'm paranoid about providing a profile of information of myself on this public website. Being surveilled by bigger entities I know is a reality.

the price is ridiculous now and they're still too damn glitchy and annoying :blackpill:

That is what an insanely vast free marketplace can deliver it should amaze you how much you get for so cheaply, it amazes me how its possible to make some products so cheaply. And the pace of advance and breakthroughs is intense.

On the other hand in a non-free market whether public or private monopolies where there is no incentives to become more efficient or to make any advances, and the incentive is actually to become less efficient for the owners of the monopoly and all the people who work in the monopoly.

Its the opposite like in my city rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is near to $2,000 a month. Why is it so high.. the municipal government holds the approvals for new housing way below what the demand is for housing. So the families who do own the apartment buildings from way back in the past when it was allowed to be built, the rentiers they make massive profits being monopolists.

I got a degoogled phone
$400

Yeah man I agree :cryfeels: good cellphones for a good price, with no sinister reason behind it? That's too good to be true.

Right you are

It's because of competition from Chinese companies, and mid-range phones always tend to be the best value for money. low cost slave labour + reusing last year's flagship designs + highly competitive market sector = low prices

Yep.

I personally no longer see any point in buying the best flagship models. Back when I was a teen who played games on the phone it made more sense though.

Have you encountered any bad drawbacks from the degoogling?
Yeah. The battery lasts longer and it acts as if I own it, instead of updating anytime it wants.

No bloteware...

Can't use any google apps though... Only open source ones. No feceboot, or insta, or other scankware... (My choice)

No YouTube commenting, but I can download yt audios and videos in low or high res with newpipe.

Lots of nice VPNs...

The only one that can track me is my ISP/ phone service provider... Via the phone part...
