The original is a classic! The story is super fun and the original is free on the cave story tribute site in English!

I'm definitely familiar with it but I'm not sure if that's because I've played some of it or just watched videos of it lol

I played it in highschool, I remember liking it but thinking it was overhyped.

This is typically the poster child of "solo dev game" while Cho Ren Sha 68k was made in 1995 by some japan dude in his apartment

Heard of it but never played it. Last game I completed was Terraria's Calamity mod. That was fun, albeit rage inducing.
