How fierce is the competition and is it a good choice for someone with poor social skills. I mean there are many options for remote work in this field after all which might be a plus

you need high social skills to enter IT now days, as ai can do anything a junior can
im studying for IT university rn but its once u exit it ur gonna compete with nerd slavs, rat gooks and jeets and genius international olympiad kids
Less competitive is doing stuff that is more niche and harder to learn like C++, embedded systems, or FPGA
Web dev is the easiest to learn cause there are many resources so everyone does it.
