Regarding your claim you need to consider the following:
1- betabuxing.
2- not a gf just a friend or even family member.
3- the extreme seems more common. We tend to focus on our extreme experiences and neglect the casual.
4- age. Usualy young females/teens go for a man with a good face, while they age and gain experiences with different men they will prefer height. For them it is like downgrading.

6 feet is average or close to average in several European countries and that's counting older people and nonwhite ethnics like Indians or Pakis which drive down the average height by a lot. In Sweden 181.4 cm is average. But the average young Swedish(not immigrant) guy is around 184 cm tall.
At 188 or 6'2 you are just 4 cm above average in Sweden. An attractive height indeed but nowhere near enough to compensate for your shitty face.

I think 6 feet is universally attractive enough. But with a huge supply of tall men the height does not give you a bonus to your looks. 3/10 and this tall is stiill 3/10 in Sweden but maybe his height makes him a 4 in US .
