Idealizing. I was a teen in the 90s here in the U.S., it sucked.
My teen years in the 90s were awful and really lonely. And no Internet either, at least until the mid 90s, and even then it was very primitive (no video, very little audio, extremely slow dialup connection). I just rotted in front of the TV and radio all the time, we got like 30 channels on TV.

Oh I guess you had antenna TV? We had cable. We got like 30 channels until 1999 and then it went up to like 50. Now you can get 500+ channels but still nothing worth watching on 99% of them jfl.

My family had 8 channels until 2005. When my parents grew up in the 70s it was something like 3 channels.
Quality over quantity. I'd rather have 3 channels with good content than 500 with slop. But I've very rarely watched TV in the past 6 years.

I think it was better. No social media or smartphones, economy was great, had a Democrat in office most of the time. Many of the best video games of all time.

The economy wasn't even really that great in the 90s, another thing that's overstated or misremembered...recession in the early 90s, unemployment rate was around 8% in 1992 (this is basically why Bush Sr. lost and Clinton won), still over 6% in 1994, inflation rate 4-6% in 1990-91. Inflation averaged about 3% in 1990-1999 compared to the same 3% in 2016-2026. Even in the late 90s the unemployment rate was 4-5% compared to 3-4% 2022-2026. (U.S. statistics) Sure the stock market did great in the 90s but it's done great in the past 10 years too, almost equally as well as the 90s. The early 90s was actually when the phrase "jobless recovery" was invented and widely used by the news media.
Your experience doesnt define the experience for most guys in that era. Incels were pretty rare. There was barely any of hardcore porn and no dating apps. Almost all men got pussy in the 90s. You werent called a creep,false accusations,#meetoo and all the other bullshit.
Almost no mass immigration in the west and wokeness in entertainment, from what I have heard it was heaven. I WISH I was teenager in the 90s or 2000s. One of the very few things that was bad about the 2000s was the war on terror thanks to the fucking Jews and Israel.

A guy like Fred Durst was an edgy gigachad of his time, he was seen as the peak of going hard, but now he's seen as a goofball and a joke. Fred Durst kinda guys caused so many teen pregnancies in the 90s.
Maybe that was the best thing about the 90s, was that music actually had a lot more cultural influence, forming cliques and cultural divisions, whereas now everyone's taste is too eclectic, and the only cultural divide is right vs left
