Its a great way to stay up and alert when coding.

I stock up on donuts, snacks, fruits, and tea. Then I munch on them and code all day.

Kills the boredom pretty good imo.

When I am proud of the programming work I finished I always order from subway. But this has caused me to gain weight fast.

Donuts and coffee are nice copes

I can't drink tea because of my iron deficiency. :feelsseriously:

Donuts have too many carbs, but sugar free tea is good

tell me how to get those massive codebux plz op, was always my dream, my absent dad did that, I think I did up to gr 11 compsci and then just fell out of the loop

what certs or post-secondary are ideal? how to get foot in door? work without commute?

you get hourly wages, independent contractor?

I have some cinnamon donuts, I also ate 4 mini boston creams last night for no good reason

Just go to craigslist and look up what the employers are asking for. Usually a degree of some sort, a certification of some sort, some years of experience, and a wide range of languages/skills.

A good bootcamp will get you a foot in the door if you dont have a degree or the years of experience. Assuming you past.

how to get bootcamp and competency in languages?

Donoughts are too sickly sweet for me

I only drink tea in winter. But having a cold drink on a warm night while watching some shows is lifefuel

I dont know if you guys are aware but dunkin donuts is really really really overrated

I am sure in Burgerland there are many donut shops and they probably have superior donuts

In Germany they already adapted the highly priced Burger-model, i.e. you would pay double digits for one burger alone, so called premium burgers

But there is a novelty now because they started to do the same with donuts.

All of a sudden we finally have also premium donuts here:p, where one plain costs about 2,5 euros (thats almost the same prize as cheap burger in a random fast food joint) and a filled costs 4 euros.

I was first a little bit hesistant and thought they were massively overpriced but after tasting one I have to say that I never ate such a good desert before:

Fatass
Giga

the coating is like a firm crust, the donut is soft but not soggy, the topping is op and goes well with the dough, and the cream filling is so good

Is this chain also in Burgerland?

Why are you niggers all programmers ,mogs me to oblivion

I have these but I don’t drink tea and sadly I can no longer find a proper fried cake chocolate donut in my nearest city so I have to settle for the afforementioned Bill Knapp’s nutty dunkers donut product that even while very tasty still pales in comparison to a properly made delicious fried cake chocolate donut.:feelsUgh:

How old
In my case I have been programming since age 11 apart from my stem study. I did so many programming projects and sometimes mathematics in my free time just because I enjoy it.

No im from europe.

As I teen I wanted to learn everything lol. My gradeschool friend showed me html once and it got me hooked. I started making crappy web 1.0 websites in my free time. My friend bragged about how much better he was than me but I soon discovered I was a much better developer. I have always had a passion for hacking/security too. When I was 12 I learned that you could decompile flash games and then use visual basic 6 to modify the variables, which allowed you to make those old school trainers, so I used to do that a lot. I could even cheat in some crappy multiplayer games. When I was 15 I bought a book on PHP and MySQL and thought myself how to make text based web applications and games which was just so cool to me, so I did that a lot in my free time. I picked up Javascript and CSS as well. I simultaneously joined a graphics design forum with a friend from highschool where we did a lot of competitions with each other and this made us both really advanced at photoshop, so I would always do the design myself for things I'd program. Sometimes I would join competitions for website designers where the winner could deliver the product to the client, but I only ever won one of those because you had to compete with a lot of professional designers. I also learned how to modify http requests and headers so I had some fun cheating games by using the cURL module in PHP as well and creating bots for the web based games my friends were playing. I had a whole lot of fun with that. But that was pretty much all before highschool ended. Oh and I also got my first smartphone at the end of highschool so I rooted my phone and started fiddling with android programming. After that I got my formal training in uni

What is your field? Physics, mathematics, statistics? What do you consider your strong suits?

I really envy you high iq nerdcels
At least you’re really high iq and good at something useful ,I wish I was like you :cryfeels::feelsbadman::feelscry::feelsrope:

Do you take a study in college or in university? I guess if you are good at english you can still become strong at academic writing

In my bachelor I also had really mediocre grades at the theory part. When I did a thesis I was lucky that I had the right professor to supervise me, and I could use my creativity and knowledge in that. And he recognized my talent and that and that really gave me a confidence boost. Which is a good thing because uni is such a rat race with people bragging and grinding very high grades at exams

Brutally stemmmoggs me I study compsci too but I know shit-I only do it because I thought I could make some money with that.

Have you ever worked with amateurs who have little experience except the stuff they did in college/uni? What is your experience witht them and how do they fare in a corporate environment?

University, the hardest course ever ,bro my courses aren’t even writing ,I passed my only English course with the highest marks and that’s it ,we need math and pysics and shit to pass ,I can do them but I’m really lazy af and depressed

Well I always respect the guys that have been doing this stuff since highschool and in their free time because I know they are like me. They think like engineers and I have met a few talented people I and really love learning from that.

Then you have the people who I guess are very smart (maybe they were seen as "gifted" in highschool), but you can see they didn't really put in the same work and struggle you did. I have carried many group projects while others still get higher grades for the theoretical exam because that is just the way they go. You see this a lot with girls who suddenly decide that comp. sci or a related field is their profession, and then they need to "catch up" and start proving themselves, but you know that they have never spend a whole night programming to finish something, so you just don't really have the same respect for them.

I ended up in a field that uses a lot of statistics and mathematics as well, so everyone I work with is pretty much battle tested, and everyone has their own talents. Some people bloomed during high school and others during uni. To some people you have to explain things and from other people you can learn things.

I always like the people the most who have humble attitudes and are passionate about the subject matter, and have real in depth experience. There are a lot of people who brag and are negative, and I don't like working with them. But seeing someone who is humble and eager to learn become good in the scientific mehod and stats/maths is something which I respect a lot, especially if you can help them along the way and they appreciate it

Edit: for the work place it really depends as well on where you end up. My supervisor really threw me into deep water, but I could manage because I work very independent and when I don't understand something I always ask. Others might be less independent so they will ask more and need more assistence, or they will finish slower. But I have seen people with mediocre skills get good jobs so it isn't a huge problem

Idk everyones different. For me, you gotta be coding often and actually working on projects to get competent. As in sign up for GitHub and save all of your projects there.

Don't do what most people do and that is waste a whole bunch of time on tutorials (a lot of people subscribe to online learning websites and just focus on the tutorials instead of actually working on projects).

Some people that want to build a website literally start the same day and learn as they go bypassing the tutorials. MDN documentation, googling, and stack overflow are how beginner developers learn without paying for tutorials.

How to get to bootcamp? Enroll and pay a whole bunch of money lol

Some folks don't have degrees, or have totally unrelated degrees to compsci and can still land entry level developer positions (if the bootcamp is good).

Developing is tedious, challenging, and boring as fuck. That is why no one wants to do it (even if they could). And you can sit on your ass for 8+ hours daily.
