City of Heroes is fun and it is completely free as it runs on private servers now.

Postal 2 is really good.

What do you mean?
At the height of popularity of Second Life years ago, it was becoming infamous for all of the undercover FBI, NSA and CIA agents posing as teenagers to try and entrap people for various offenses.

Fallout (especially 3 and New Vegas)

Yeah, of course, pedophiles and shit.

Agecucks hard at work.

Dying Light 1

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion

SL had some odd stuff on it. But to be fair I think it was more adults pretending to be kids than actual kids.

I have no idea, tbh. I have checked out the game when I was a lot younger and what put me off was all the sexual content.

Way too much of it and extremely in your face.

And what annoyed me even more was that the players would insist that it is not a video game.

Jfl, I downloaded it because of that and realized that everyone was in it just for the money.

Everyone was trying to sell you some shit. lol

I knew a foid from my former Battlefield community who was selling virtual shoes in Second Life.

She was earning her living with that and she was earning A LOT with it.

I mean, yeah, cool, but wtf? lol

I played it heavily in 2014/2015.

Mostly just going to a beach club I really liked that played electro house and had loads of live DJs.

When that place closed though I mostly lost interest.

I did try to start a shop on there once and it was fun! I agree though that there's too much sex stuff on there.

Would you really consider OOT an open world?

I guess the line blurs doesn't it really.

Like... is Shenmue an open world? Yes and no.

I guess that's why I put Zomboid and Skyrim before them. Fallout 3 is also more of an open world I suppose.

Morrowind
gonna play it after I finished my hardest difficulty oblivion playthrough. Smithing mastery, summoning will come in really handy as well with long range spells and high sneak

Best open worlds I've ever experienced... hm.

Project Zomboid, Skyrim, Shenmue, Ocarina Of Time, Fallout 3... maybe those are the highlights idk ^_^

Or you could play this, lol

SKyrim was kinda crap tbh. quests were way too repetitive. Only the map was a good part of the game. The dialogue also was really limited, and the levelling up system is way too dumbed down to my liking

well it was a 2012 game all things considered it was genre defining

honestly open world game isnt a genre its just a feature thats hard to narrow down

OG assassins creed are alright

Sable

Short and interesting indie game.

the Gothic trilogy is old but gold. In terms of modern open world games then my favourite are Kingdom come deliverance 2, Red dead redemption 2 and Witcher 3

Age of empires

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines
