Serious Any home ethernet enthusiasts here? need help with ethernet connecting

I recentily built a new pc for my friend and the ethernet isnt working
I tried 3 diff cables, updated the drivers via flash drive once, then ''repaired''
reset the routher, reset pc ( all done 3 times at least)
in cmd it doesnt even ping anything, nothing
it wont ping the dns, the ip, the gateway
nothing seems to work...

also wifi on phones work, tv ( smart tv) also works, pc not working....

Dont you just have to plug the thing into your pc?
