Only 50-60 years ago, we would've been treated explicitly like second class citizens in the US. I sometimes walk around the city and stop to think that everyone is acting so chill nowadays, like none of that shit even happened. Everything is cool all of the sudden. I have a hard time believing people have changed in only this amount of time.

My uncle and and grandmother were living in Birmingham during the time of the civil rights movement and when I had asked them about it they told me "Time heals all wounds" but ofcourse thats just them I'm sure a lot of blacks still have animosity towards whites but simply can't be bothered. I have nothing against whites personally. My parents and grandparents came from Haiti so they weren't apart of the time of Jim Crow and the Civil Rights movement.

You can still sense some real anger from the older generations. My grandfather is still angry over what his family went through, but I think that mostly stems from the fact that whites never faced justice for the crimes they committed. I'm willing to move past what happened, but some of the stuff you see on the internet still pisses me off.
