if I ever get rich id go to japan exclusively to do trekking trough sacred mountains, shinto forgotten shrines, pligrimages routes (Tendai, etc)
im specially fascinated by sokushinbutsu, id pay devoted homage to them

The portugese and spaniards knew damn well they couldn't take on Japan lol.

They used their old tactic of religion to divide and conquer and it was actually working up until a point. Until the Japanese simply decided they were gonna kill all of the christians (which they did).

China had a similar situation with wanting to kill all christians/foreigners but by that time, the western powers were already combined and amassed ashore.
