It's really simple. This guy just sorta sucked in taking the half measure. Good and evil are like Ying and Yang. Without evil, there's no good. It's a basic requirement of reality and logic. Good isn't the default option, otherwise it wouldn't be good.
Wrong there can be good or evil without eachother that's such a lame answer that I keep hearing from so many people.
