I would say we are different species by this point. Remember that Humans created the definition of "species". Also, I don't really think you thought too hard about this because Homo Neanderthals could interbreed with Homo Sapiens (us), so does that mean it's the same species? We don't admit to them being another species because we are too woke nowadays, back in the day we did call them different species.
