When asked, “Why don’t you have as many kids as we used to?” both men and women respond with groans. As best I can tell, the English translation of these groans is “Kids are a lot of work,” or maybe “Imagine all the dirty diapers and sleepless nights,” or perhaps “Are you trying to kill me?”

This excuse seems so weak. Do these people forget caffeine exists? Too much sleep can actually be bad anyway. I made a post against laziness.

The Bible says:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

One thing this says is that the yoke of parenthood is "easy." Despite parenthood affecting sleep, it is restful. Reproduction is implied as a commandment since the commandment to not kill implies that life is a gift, and if it's a gift then it makes sense to give it.

A hymn says, "With blessings unmeasured my cup runneth o’er." This seems to be true since there's an article titled, The Average American Today Is 90 Times Richer Than the Average Historical Human Being." Our blessings are overflowing to the point that others would benefit from it, yet there's a birth dearth.

I feel like women need to fast from contraception.

The excuse is weak like the idea that women can't afford to raise children, as if there's a famine in the country, which there isn't. In fact, a lot of food is uneaten and trashed.

Another argument found online is that reproduction is selfish. If having children is selfish, so is being a nurse or veterinarian. Nurses are selfish. Veterinarians are selfish. If one form of altruism such as parenthood is selfish, then by that logic perhaps all altruism is bad. I don't know how common this idea is, but it's what one anti-natalist I was talking to said.

Dumb responses

This is another example of blessings overflowing:
