A cultural thing maybe, but does anybody else notice that as well? Americans seem obsessed with making fun or addressing someone's failures in life, I don't get it.

Apparently for the average american it's very funny to make fun of a "loser". It really disturbs me, it's not uncommon to hear, like for instance some movie or yt video where someone tries to be funny by addressing a person who's a virgin at given age, lives with his parents, is unemployed, is ugly. Things like that.

I mean what is even the point, if anything that's not even funny, it's not something you should be making fun of, it just sounds mean. Some of those things aren't even failures in my book, why living with your parents as a single person is a bad thing? It doesn't make sense to me.

I know people who are married and still live in their parents house, that would be pretty weird, but I can't picture someone making fun of this because even if it's a failure it's just not funny. It's pretty sickening actually.

They are losers themselves. They are projecting their own failures onto others. They need to feel superior because deep inside they know their lives are miserable.

They have no status if you aren't a loser. They need us to make themselves look better. A user on here said we exist to be mugged and I believe that. They just delude themselves into thinking they're better because of it. When they aren't.

It is one of the obvious aspects of American culture, the cult of success. Americans love Mickey Mouse, a hero with no flaws while Europeans love Donald Duck, a sympathetic character with obvious flaws but the willingness to become a better duck

I've noticed this most acutely in lolcow communities, which are almost exclusively the domains of Americans. The systematic harassment levied towards these people, particularly the disabled and mentally ill, is disgusting and counterproductive, but entirely symptomatic of the world the they live in. You must understand that American culture, being disparate and isolated by design, can only measure success by material and tangible achievements.

Donald Duck is based.

maybe entrenched with Capitalism.

if you ask them, they can't answer you either. it's just because of their materialistic society.

America is a nation of projecting. Watch the movies, listen to the music, observe the politics that represent those people they are all projecting always talking of peoples failure, bragging about nonsense and constant comparing. Its got to be the oddest society ive ever been in, and ive been around. Even in Europe people are alot more grounded and aware of their own behaviors and goals. US is a giant experiment, the mixing of cultures and testing of political system. It has had good days but in the last number of decades seems to be degrading.

Quite possibly the greatest cartoon character of all time :feelsLSD:
Yeah he has constant bad luck too at least in the comics and does only dead-end jobs and gets gigamogged by his rich uncle.

He is literally one of us.

American zoomers sure love punching down. I honestly blame social media at least in part. It has trained them to be like this:

Facebook taught them that anything outside of soy libtard opinion is forbidden.

Reddit taught them that banning what you don't want to hear is completely valid.

Twitter taught them that you need to distill and concentrate your hate and condemnation to the max, because there's a character limit, so every word counts.

It's hardly surprising they have grown into a generation of cunts.

It's not unique to American zoomees though.
I've met a few Germans, and their whole sense of humor seems to be telling anecdotes about some incompetent fool they know, who completely fucked something up, ha ha!

Donald Duck:
>gets constantly mogged by his rich uncle and super lucky cousin
>his girlfriend constantly leaves him and comes back only when he has money
>is always doing the worst jobs known to birds
>even a manlet mouse mogs him regularly
>was a raging alcoholic in the older comics
>mentalcel, always on the verge of going ER or having some other violent outburst

They'll even make fun of you if you try to go ER and fail or get caught, just look how much serial killers are praised in media and everywhere.

Moving out ASAP is propaganda to keep people poor and giving rent to Jews.

Here in the United States we don't have a common culture, identity, community, or national purpose anymore.

Entire existence has been reduced to pursuits of materialistic consumption, idolatry of money, and glorification of individual power over others to which success is celebrated with great vigor all the while shaming or taking pleasure in the failures of others by cutting them down to a million pieces.

It is what you would expect out of the New World of Babylon. :feelsclown:

def not a cultural thing, just a problem everywhere. we cant be constantly making fun of other people for their "failures" and expect them to be better. they're most likely just gonna beat themselves up over it and feel like shit for the rest of their lives:cryfeels:

This is common human nature.
This happens everywhere in the world.
Even your own family makes fun of you.

OP's just saying it's more prevalent there ffs

The entire commercial, corporate, and political identity of modern America is materialism, money, power, or success. Basically, eugenics has become our national ethos of the strong devouring the weak, but in reality, there is nothing eugenic of our society whatsoever beyond the much-celebrated ideal as our entire nation is fully dysgenic instead. It cannot even ascend to its own beloved cherished ideal system. :feelsclown:

In America, people worship assholes and bullies that assert dominance.

He's the face of a Multi-National Company, even people in 3rd world countries know who he is.

what the eye of Horus means there on the top left? I think the Oculus Dei symbolism isn't necessarily attribution to satanism.

Not sure, I just like the Whore Of Babylon references even though I'm not a Christian for we indeed very much are a nation of whores. The other image is the throne of Mammon. :feelsclown:

Thank you fren. :feelsjuice::feelsaww:

I was addicted to failure porn as a teenager. Constantly browsing cringe stuff online and listening to long-form analysises of failed films and video games. I got great gratification from the gloat. I avoid it nowadays because I think it's a bad way to live life and because I've experienced some failures myself which only makes me see myself in the shoes of other people experiencing failure.

yeah it's not like people elsewhere don't despise "losers" or don't belittle them but I think the humour analogy fits well, I'd say that if I threw "loser" jokes out of nowhere in a group like I see americans doing I'd just get awkward silences or some weak laugh like "haha hey bro that's not cool", it really wouldn't be funny.

I think if anything people elsewhere tend to feel pity, which isn't exactly the best of emotions but I think it's better than straight up laugh at someone for not meeting your success standards.

Yep, I've invented the term myself (I think). I think most people like failure porn but don't have the self-awareness to call it what it is. They watch "cringe" and "critiques" when all the while it's the failure that brings them joy.

edit: I see the term "failure porn" has been used previously so never mind

Americans also love to see their celebrities fall

they loved it when Britney Spears went bald and was on the news all the time

they loved it when Justin Bieber was getting into legal trouble

why living with your parents as a single person is a bad thing? It doesn't make sense to me.
Same, it’s worse if the persons who are making fun of you are your parents

it's crazy to me to think any parents would want their kids away from them

if anything my parents would try to convince me to not move
