Am I crazy or does Medal of Honor Allied Assault still look good?

I guess the thing is... you don't get that many games in this genre. Military shooters that feel focused and precise, and strategic.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein was also good for sure but it did feel different.

People are hard on MoH now I think but I feel like you don't need to look at or play Allied Assault for long to see the ways in which it shines.

Looks alright nothing special

It has really cool looking winter level but other than that it aged badly, ai and shooting mechanics is just staight awful when compared to cod1 or hidden and dangerous - especially 2 if you want real strategy

To be fair these are really not that similar games.

CoD tends to be a lot more chaotic and H&D was much slower-paced and less forgiving.

CoD may have been similar enough to shrink the market share of MoH but it really wasn't THAT similar.

No problem yeah - there were so many great old shooters. My favourite FPS games ever are Quake 2 and Fear 2 but... out of military shooters... I actually probably did have the most fun with Allied Assault. And Day of Defeat.

What do you tend to like? :feelsautistic:

Disagree MOH was extremely similar to COD you know why? Because COD1 was made by ex MOH devs, only with Cod2 gameplay have changed to be much more fast paced and based around your character as a hero saving the day. Agree about H&D it's an extremely punishing game but also way more tactical than MoH which was just a cod with Health packs and AI that was easily abusable while taking corner peeks or camping and waiting for them to come at you.

I think it's unfair to expect a 2002 game or whatever to have AI that's comparable to later games. It was a long time ago.

Also when you say that CoD is much more fast-paced... that makes a big difference, doesn't it?

The feel of CoD is completely different to Allied Assault, surely.

I love the theme for allied assault, Michael
Giacchino did a fantastic fucking job.

Oh the music you mean, or?

I really don't know much about its development. I just played it a fair bit when I was younger and really enjoyed it.

It was the only MoH game I played lots.

I also completed Modern Warfare 2 but... it's ok but I would assume the real advantage of CoD was the multiplayer.

of all of these war themed games i liked battlefield 1's vibe the most

Ah OK. What about from modern shooters?

I also thought Killzone 2 was really good.

I actually do wonder if my fave shooters would be tricky to make now because a) they were technically impressive and DEI has reduced the competency of game devs and b) they are not woke.

It would be tricky, at least as AAA or maybe even AA.

it looks pretty nice

Yeah it was fun back in the day!

I remember the PC was near the back garden and I used to sit there chilling listening to Nothing by A and blasting through the game lol

It's amazing how the years fly by >.<

Will try it but I don't play modern shooters or modern games this much
