I remember being a kid and our parents would "sort of" go trick or treating with us but it was generally they would follow us for a block or two then tell us to continue going to all the houses which was idk like maybe 10 streets over then round back. Then we would just meet up with them like an hour or two later.
During that time I remember eating all kinds of unpackaged sweets and going into people's houses. One guy in particular ran out of candy just as we walked up to him so he invited all of us into his house and we nonchalantly just walked into his place and went through various rooms in his house to get to his stash of candy and goodies that he had but they weren't wrapped in bags yet. He let us, and many other kids, get handfuls of "real candy"* then just walk out the front door.
I could see thing being a lot harder to do these days but I'm quite sure there are still small communities that are still like this. I mean with iPhones and cameras in general it would still be quite hard but I'm sure if I tried I could easily just lure a kid into my place for candy. Regardless of age since plenty of teens still also go trick or treating. With them you could just probably entice with free booze or weed then BAM you got yourself a sex slave down in your rape dungeon.
