I don't know if something is wrong but when I try training, all 16 gigs of my RAM are getting saturated... then all 16 gigs of my swapspace and everything locks up. I don't even thinking anything is making it to the GPU. And yeah my 1060 GTX 6Gb GPU is wimpy.

I had Cuda 9 + CudNN 7 installed for using YOLO which was the first 2 parts of the project. Then I tried installing Cuda 8 + CudNN 6 to use a Tensorflow model. I wonder if something got fucked up on the install.

If you know anything about this stuff, plz halp (Also goes out to other MLcels reading this).

Worse comes to worst, I'll have to rent from Google or Amazon.

Still, nobody at those big companies is going to do what I'm trying to do.

No it's a neural net, used either to classify images, "intelligently" read text, or find patterns in data. It's probably some image classifier with some lookism based face analyzer if I had to hazard a wild guess.

It's this unvectorized numpy code

x_train = np.array([a / 127.5 - 1 for a in x_train])
x_test = np.array([a / 127.5 - 1 for a in x_test])

The x_train set is like ~6 GB and the test set is like ~3GB I believe.
Weird that it would take up so much memory.

I'm going to try to fix it but if there are any numpycels here, plz help.

Guys, I reduced the training set. Not really what I wanted to do but right now is kind of proof of concept stage.

With the reduced training set, it looks like things are going to work. The model is training now.
