Nah he's rice. Raiden was based on the lightning guy from Big Trouble In Little China which came out 6 years before the original MK arcade game. The resemblance is not a coincidence.

The Sub Zero character is actually a hapa. He is the son of a Chinese father who was a Lin Keui assassin and a white American mother.
