I just saw Deadpool 2. In it Cable is played by Josh Brolin, who is 5'11'' (apparently). At one point Deadpool breaks the fourth wall to let the audience know this movie's version of Cable is "short," specifically 5'11", thus inaccurate to the comic. Later Juggernaut is fighting Cable and calls him "midget."

So now 5'11" is so short that in movies it has to be specifically lamp-shaded, or addressed in some way.

I like some of the humor, and I like the gore.

Superheroes are inherently silly, so having one that's in on the gag is amusing. Of course that's in concept - in execution it may just be dozens of pop culture references and obvious meta humor. :-(

Maybe you are over-estimating your peers' heights, since shoe-lifts seem built into most shoes now-a-days. You may also not know that men from Mexico are shorter, thus the immigrant population are bringing down the overall average.

5'10" is the average male height in the USA; I have to trust statistics over your personal observations. And where I live I see a lot of men shorter than me, at 5'8". (and I feel sorry for them) Seeing men over 5'11" is semi-rare.

But, none of that matters. Women think all men under their preferred top 20% are below-average.
