It's just Christian nonsense. As far as I understand, the story of the lost tribes of Israel began to be spread by the Puritans in England under the Cromwell regime. Cromwell believed that the English people were also Jews. The English people were the first to claim to be the lost tribe of Israel. They even started changing the names to make them more Jewish rather than Hellenistic. Translation of the Bible, for the first time, began to "dehellenize" biblical names. For example, Elias, as he had been called previously, became Elijah to sound more like the Hebrew pronunciation.

Cromwell is very underestimated in history in the bad sense of the word. Most consider him a hero, even though he did nothing but kill other white Irish and worship Jews, he brought them back to England, even though they were expelled from there by Edward 1 for more than 3 centuries. Under Cromwell, all these Judophilic sects of Puritans began to develop, which would later go to North America and become the founding of the United States.
Cromwell was the forerunner of what is now called ZOG.

There are some Christians that believe that some modern nations are lost tribes but I think this is a minority view..
A couple of points on the lost tribes people do not think about
1.The Assyrians only exiled the nobles ,kings and priests ,the peasants of the northern tribes were never exiled!
2.It was not just Judah that lived in the southern kingdom ,Benjamin,Simon also had land there and Levi were priests and had no territory so many Levites lived in Judah
3.Mass numbers of refugees made it to the south before Samaria fell to Assyria,so many many of the lost tribes assimilated into Judah
