Story about helping a girl who has an abusive boyfriend and its consequences

So my aunt told me this one, she lives in an apartment and she heard it from one of her neighbors who lives in a different apartment. So a girl and his boyfriend were fighting about some random shit in the hallway in one of the apartments and the girl was crying. In that situation i am not certain that if the boy was hitting the girl but he was definitely yelling at her according to the information i recieved. So a 26-27 old man who lives near to that hallway heard the noises and intervened. The 26 year old man tried to separate them and help the girl and as a result of this the abusive boyfriend got very mad and beat the shit out of the 26 year old man. So one of the people in the apartment called the security while this was happening and the security called the ambulance because the beating was so severe.

After that from what i heard the 26 year old man stayed in the hospital for a couple of days (i am not sure about the number) and he completely lost his hearing in one of his ears permanently due to a punch he received. Family of the 26 year old man sued the abusive boyfriend and in the trial the girlfriend of the abusive boy told the judge that she didn't see her boyfriend beating the 26 year old man.

TL;DR: So a girl and his boyfriend were fighting and this 26 year old man saw this and tried to help the girl because she was crying. his boyfriend got mad at this and he got beaten up so bad by her boyfriend that he completely lost his hearing in one of his ears. As a result of this the family of the man sued the boyfriend and during the trial the girl didn't even give a shit about the man and choose to help his abusive boyfriend by saying she didn't see her boyfriend beating the man.

This happened a couple of months ago and the lawsuit probably continues but i don't think the abusive boyfriend will get a big punishment because apparently he is a college student and he doesn't have any criminal offences in the past. So at the end of the day the 26 year old man lost his hearing in one of his ears but at least now he will probably never help any women again.
