Another interesting experiment that geneticist David Piffer (https://davidepiffer.com/p/colourism-in-the-sperm-bank-who-gets) writes about.
In Israel, they interviewed users of a donor sperm bank - married heterosexual couples, single women - phenotypically what kind of father they want their child. Married couples still focused more on their phenotype (so that the child outwardly would still not be too different from the father). But the rest of the women have already given vent to their desires (when no one will see the father of their children).
- Of course, sperm donor growth from 180 cm and above was predominant. I have written more than once that this is a rational choice - in all countries and cultures, tall men and tall women receive a kind of privilege in their careers and salaries, as well as in the marriage market.
- Most wanted the sperm donor to have fair skin and light eyes (76% wanted light eyes!), in the hope that these signs would be passed on to children.
The latter is not just an aesthetic perception of these signs by women. Let me remind you that we are talking about Israel. Piffer clarifies these preferences:
"Lighter complexion/lighter eyes are more associated in Israel with Ashkenazi origin (Jews come from Eastern and Central Europe - T.); darker complexions/eyes are more common among Mizrahi Jews and among Arab/Palestinian citizens. The Birenbaum-Carmeli study relates lighter features to Ashkenazi privilege. Women more susceptible to status cues often reflect this in their choice of donor traits."
(Let me remind you that since the creation of Israel, their nomenclature is overwhelmingly composed of Ashkenazi; for example, the overwhelming number of Israeli prime ministers had ancestors who left the territory of the Russian Empire altogether - T.)
In general, women understand very well about privileges, which in the literal sense are "given from birth."
(Piffer writes that a number of studies on European countries using the same example of sperm donors show the same understanding by women of "privileges from birth")
