If you approach a women within in your social circles (if your ugly you are more likely to dont have any women in social circles) you also take a huge risk, first that also atleast two of your friends are tryin to get her so maybe you will just loose them as friends or as before you will be treated as a freak and rejected by your friends.
Dating and askin for dates in todays western society is mostly done over dating apps and here more then in real world youre appearance is the relevant factor, since you dont even get the chance to say a single word without looking good. And since it mostly happens through online dating and women are used to be approached by guys who are far over her actual SMV, they are more likely to reject you, knowing that they have better options online.

Also ugly guys know that they dont look good. Even bluepilled guys know that, thats why they tell themselves that looks dont matter.
Ugly guys who are honest with themselves know that they have it hard on the dating market, if they are concious about it or not they also know everything I mention above, they know they're havin zero chance in online dating and they know that also when they approach a women IRL this women will have multiple other options of men, so why to take all the the risk if your bettin, maybe not on a dead but atleast a dying horse? Doin smth that takes effort and encouragement only makes sense if there is a realistic chance of succes and for a growing number of men this chance and the even possible reward isnt worth anymore.
