Kinda cope thread tbh
What you're seeing is a combination of a few factors:
- it takes the virus only a few days to kill you, but a couple of weeks to get better and be listed as recovered
- Italy did not even try to contain the spread
- Italian population is like 60 years old on average
- Italy is only confirming cases where people require medical attention
- 20% of infected require medical attention, but I don't think there's a healthcare system in the world able to hospitalize even 1% of the population at the same time, let alone 20%
The recovery and infection rates should be about 5 times as high, which would put us at 16% death rate so far. Still high, but not unexpected if we remember 20% require medical attention to survive.
So yeah, get ready for 20% of a country's population dying out if they don't control the spread or have shit healthcare in general
Most of us youngcels shouldn't need to worry about dying (unless you live in some shithole), as should you need treatment, triage will prioritize young and healthy
(though pregnant women and children are prioritized over healthy young men
)
