A study by Gideon Richter and the NAFI Analytical Center has revealed alarming trends indicating a link between sexual health and the demographic situation in Russia.
"The newspaper.Ru" got acquainted with the results of the study.
22% of young people (18-23 years old) reported a lack of sexual activity. 40% of respondents aged 18-45 avoid discussing sexual problems with a partner, and one in four (25%) ignores existing difficulties.
More than half of the respondents (51%) noted the presence of problems in sexual relations, among which lack of attraction (53%) and physical dissatisfaction (39%) prevail. Misunderstandings, fears, complexes and distrust together made up 58%. At the same time, only 4% seek help from specialists.
Men are more likely to face psychological problems, such as misunderstandings about sexual preferences and boundaries (29%), as well as fears and complexes (23%), while women are more likely to experience physiological difficulties – lack of attraction (58%) or problems with orgasm (45%).
The problem of lack of sexual desire is more common among representatives of generation Y and X (respondents from 24 to 45 years old, 54% respectively). For zoomers (18-23 years old), the problem of misunderstanding and lack of communication between partners about sexual boundaries is more relevant than for representatives of other generations (30%).
Irina Hildebrandt, Director of Strategic Projects at the NAFI Analytical Center:
"As the results of the study show, the main problem in their sexual relationships, respondents of different generations called the lack of attraction. Young, reproductively active people do not want to have sex. Sexual preferences and behavior do change markedly from generation to generation, and these changes deserve a more detailed analysis. Modern young people prefer to stay at home, avoid dating, preferring virtual communication. Young people, those who are now 18-23 years old, are called the "anxious generation" — a third of them suffer from anxiety disorders. Many young people are under constant stress. And such a condition, as is known, not only does not contribute to the search for partners, but also reduces sexual desire."
Despite the fact that 76% of respondents stated satisfaction with their sexual relationships, more than 70% noted problems with reproductive health. Among those who are not satisfied with their intimate life, 40% indicated problems.
Consequently, in Russia, about 22% of male zoomers are incels.
