I cannot agree on this if you have a decent PC.

I broke out my PS3 today to play a couple games I still have, and it's painfully slow compared to emulating on my PC. Not to mention worse graphics, lower resolution, savestates, etc...

It's easy to not realize how the perks of newer hardware spoil us.

True Forza Motorsport 4 on Xenia Canary runs amazingly well on my old gtx 1060 and that gpu is less than $80, COD3 also runs nicely, Burnout Revenge now has fixed audio and is a superior way of playing the game over xb360. Armored Core 4 runs at 120fps and GUN is capped at 30fps (can be played at 60fps with Lossless scaling)
However RPCS3 requires ultra strong cpu for some of the games so it will cost 10x as much as used ps3 however you can play at 4k so you pay for better image quality and also quick save/load.

PS3 emulation is more tricky than other consoles. You need to configure many games to run decently, and there's weird glitchy stuff that's going to happen sometimes. But, this happened on the original PS3 hardware to begin with because Sony had to be cute with its architecture making it a bitch for game developers.
